🚀 Introduction to Gaganyaan
Gaganyaan is India’s pioneering human spaceflight mission, developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The name is derived from Sanskrit—“Gagan” meaning sky and “Yaan” meaning craft—signifying India’s first step towards crewed space exploration.
The mission aims to send a crew of Indian astronauts, known as Vyomanauts, into low Earth orbit (approximately 400 km altitude) for a duration of up to seven days. India will become the fourth country to independently send humans to space—joining the ranks of Russia, the USA, and China.
Beyond national pride, Gaganyaan lays the foundation for future missions involving space stations, lunar exploration, and interplanetary travel. It showcases India’s growing capabilities in space science and engineering on a global stage.
