πŸ§‘β€πŸš€ Crew Module (CM)

The Crew Module (CM) is the heart of the Gaganyaan mission β€” it’s the part of the spacecraft that houses the astronauts during the mission. It provides a safe, habitable environment for the crew during launch, orbit, and re-entry.

  • Design: The CM is a double-walled structure with a pressurized metallic inner structure and an unpressurized external shell protected by a Thermal Protection System (TPS).
  • Life Support: It includes vital systems like environmental control, air regeneration, temperature regulation, and waste management to ensure a livable atmosphere for astronauts.
  • Avionics & Interfaces: It is equipped with state-of-the-art avionics, human-centric displays, control panels, and communication systems for real-time interaction with mission control.
  • Re-entry & Recovery: The CM is built to survive high temperatures during re-entry. Parachute deployment systems and flotation devices ensure safe landing in the sea for recovery operations.

The Crew Module has already undergone various ground and test trials, including Pad Abort Tests and will be further validated in upcoming uncrewed flights.
