🛰️ Uncrewed Test Flights – Gaganyaan Programme

Before embarking on its first crewed mission, ISRO has planned a series of uncrewed test flights under the Gaganyaan programme. These missions aim to validate critical technologies, ensuring the safety and success of future human spaceflights.

🚀 Gaganyaan-1 (G1)

  • Launch Date: Planned for Q4 2025
  • Launch Vehicle: Human-rated LVM3 (HLVM3)
  • Mission Profile: First uncrewed orbital test flight to validate the performance of the launch vehicle, crew module, and mission operations.
  • Key Features: The mission will carry the humanoid robot Vyommitra to simulate human physiological conditions and assess the Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS).

🚀 Gaganyaan-2 (G2)

  • Launch Date: Planned for 2026
  • Launch Vehicle: Human-rated LVM3 (HLVM3)
  • Mission Profile: Second uncrewed orbital test flight to further assess the spacecraft’s systems and performance in orbit.
  • Key Features: Continued testing of onboard systems, including avionics, propulsion, and re-entry procedures.

🚀 Gaganyaan-3 (G3)

  • Launch Date: Planned for 2026
  • Launch Vehicle: Human-rated LVM3 (HLVM3)
  • Mission Profile: Third uncrewed orbital test flight to finalize validation of all systems before the crewed mission.
  • Key Features: Comprehensive testing of mission operations, including launch, orbit, re-entry, and recovery procedures.

These uncrewed test flights are critical steps in ensuring the reliability and safety of the Gaganyaan programme, paving the way for India’s first human spaceflight mission.
