๐ Launch Pad Details โ Gaganyaan Mission
The Gaganyaan mission will be launched from a specially modified facility at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The launch pad has been upgraded to support human spaceflight requirements, including emergency response and astronaut safety systems.
- Dedicated Human-Rated Launch Pad: Existing Second Launch Pad (SLP) has been upgraded for crewed missions, including enhanced safety systems and redundant power supply.
- Crew Access Arm: A newly built tower arm enables astronauts to board the Crew Module directly. It includes environmental control systems to maintain pressure and temperature at the ingress point.
- Emergency Escape Route: A high-speed escape chute and rescue system allow astronauts to evacuate the tower instantly in case of ground emergencies.
- On-Site Crew Readiness Building: A nearby facility enables final suit-up, medical checks, and transport to the launch vehicle for boarding.
- Command & Safety Infrastructure: Launch pad is equipped with hardened control rooms, real-time health monitoring, and remote command override systems for emergencies.
These infrastructure enhancements ensure that Indiaโs first human spaceflight will be executed with the highest standards of safety, reliability, and precision.
